چکیده

The atmospheric flow and dispersion of traffic exhaust were numerically studied in this work while considering a model street canyon intersection city. finite volume method (FVM)-based large-eddy simulation (LES) technique line with ANSYS Fluent have been used for pollutant modelling through the consideration boundary layer (ABL). Hexahedral elements are considered computational domain discretization order to solve problems using FVM-LES. turbulence parameters superimposed spectral synthesizer existing LES as part ’damage control’ due unsteady k−ϵ simulation. Initially, code is validated an experimental study urban where width height ratio unity. After validation, was investigated work. shows high concentration intersecting corner areas buildings. Additionally, level at leeward wall downwind building case increased upwind building. Most importantly, it realized from design that three-dimensional interconnection between dominating vortices roof plays pivotal role on windward walls. extent eddies their interconnections found be extremely important they facilitate enhanced ventilation. Corner only form streets towards freeway not intersection. results key findings offer qualitative quantitative data estimation, planning, implementation exposure mitigation environment.

Large-eddy simulation of reactive pollutant dispersion in a street canyon using a subgrid scale variance model of concentration field

ABSTRACT: Bi-molecular reactions can affect the transport of air pollutants in urban street canyons. In numerical simulations, we need to evaluate the correlation between the concentrations of the reactants to know the reaction rate. In this paper, we examine the effects of the subgrid scale (SGS) on the reaction rate in large-eddy simulations (LESs). LESs coupled with an SGS variance model are...

thermal effect on pollutant dispersion in an urban street canyon

his investigation was carried out to reveal the impact of solar radiation on wind flow structure and pollutant dispersion in an urban street canyon of aspect ratio of one using the computational fluid dynamic (cfd) technique. the simulation results (velocity and concentration data) show that heating from building wall surfaces and ground lead to strong buoyancy forces as the air is heated by th...

Simulation of Dispersion of Pollutant by Eddy Field

This research studies the behavior of the dispersion of a pollutant cloud, through the simulation of an eddy field velocity. To do so, a mathematical model was developed, with base in the Monte Carlo simulations, in order to analyze all statistic aspects, present in this process. A computational program was developed, so that it can be possible to establish the behavior of the cloud size, in a ...

Seasonal Changing Effect on Airflow and Pollutant Dispersion Characteristics in Urban Street Canyons

In this study, the effect of seasonal variation on air flow and pollutant dispersion characteristics was numerically investigated. A three-dimensional urban canopy model with unit aspect ratio (H/D = 1) was used to calculate surface temperature distribution in the street canyon. Four representative time events (1000 LST, 1300 LST, 1600 LST and 2000 LST) during typical clear summer and winter da...
